Building and renovation
At the design stage we can avoid the manufacture of materials and associated waste and pollution and help to drive growth in sustainable building materials. Through design we can also minimise the amount of water and energy the building will use over it's lifetime.
Since the 1960's our buildings are four times the size, with half the people living in them. As a general rule a big building means a big power bill and a big environmental footprint.
Green buildings are healthier (natural light, fresh air, minimal toxic off gassing), cheaper to run (less energy and water) and more comfortable to live in (ever cuddled up with a good book in the winter sun behind double glazed windows?).
