Waste

In nature there is no such thing as waste. Imagine if our ‘waste’, like fruit tree blossom, became nutrients for the soil, or for industry - forever. That we eliminate the concept of waste. This journey is a two way street - we design products for recovery and we stop buying landfill stuff.

Everything we buy generates massive amounts of waste.

"For every bin we put to the kerb, 70 bins have already gone to landfill in the manufacturing process."

- Annie Leonard, The Story of Stuff (a great online short film)

And waste doesn't disappear when we throw it away. In fact, there is no 'away'. Everything we put in the bin ends up polluting the air, the water and the soil.

So how can we eliminate waste? Half the waste in a Bendigo bin can be composted or worm farmed, 30% can be recycled and another 10-15% can be avoided whilst shopping.

Household Chemicals

There are many toxic items (batteries, paints, etc) around the home that are not allowed in landfill. Take them to the Eaglehawk Landfill for recovery.
