Furoshiki - Waste Free Gift Wrapping
Nowadays with the focus on the environment the furoshiki technique is quickly spreading across the globe. A blog by Verity Lougoon.
Furoshiki is the Japanese art of gift wrapping with a piece of cloth. Originally in Japan it was used to wrap clothes after visiting a public bath, however the use of furoshiki extended to gift wrapping and also for use a way of carrying goods after the proliferation of the plastic bag.
Furoshiki has no set size; depending on what you are wrapping it can be the size of a hand or up to the size of a bed sheet it just needs to be square. The great thing about fursoshiki is that they can be recycled over and over again, or can be made from recycled or scrap fabrics.
It is really easy to learn so check out this easy to follow YouTube video and get wrapping!
