Pets
Pets can eat the food waste that would have gone to landfill. On the pet food front we can buy organic, natural, bulk, less meat and made close to home. We can also buy green pet products.
Waste - With up to half the waste in the average bin being food, pets can be big landfill reducers and save the money, energy and water that pet food manufacturing uses.
Meat - meat has a big climate change impact. Try feeding the dog less meat, or swap the meat to Kangaroo.
Packaging - minimise the amount of packaging required and think about the energy used to make the packaging (steel cans as opposed to plastic or paper bags). Buy local to avoid shipping and transport impacts of the product you are buying.
Cats and native animals don't mix - Cats are responsible for the deaths of millions of native animals every year. Our native animals are mostly nocturnal, so keep the cat inside at night. Try a bell on the cat during the day.
A bit wrong - Most western pets eat better than most third world people.
